The Most Exciting Upcoming Movies in 2022

views

It’s been a rough couple of years for the movie industry, with many films set for a 2020 release becoming 2022 movies now instead.

It’s also been a tough year for Las Vegas, but with the return of conventions to the city – things are looking up.

There might not be any $1 dollar deposit casinos in Sin City, like you can find if you click the link, but there’s certainly going to be a lot to see next year in Vegas other than gambling.

For starters, next year you’ll be able to check out some of the hottest movies coming out in 2022 at the Las Vegas CinemaCon! You’ll also get to see previews of other upcoming movies of 2022, get your hands on exclusive merch, and even see many of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the flesh.

But what are some of the new movies for 2022 you might be getting all excited to see early next year?

The Batman

The Batman is the first Batman movie for quite a while – and stars a new face behind the caped crusader’s mask, Robert Pattinson. This reboot will feature the iconic vigilante superhero taking on quizzical serial killer The Riddler, as well as corrupt Gotham City policemen.

Originally, Ben Affleck was supposed to star, direct and write the script. However, Cloverfield director Matt Reeves took the helm in 2017 with Affleck supposedly unhappy with his results. Expect a darker and more introspective fare than the rest of the DC extended universe movies featuring Batman – with themes focusing on the “nature of heroism” and flawed heroes.

Death on the Nile

Based upon the acclaimed classic novel from British writer Agatha Christie, Death on the Nile will see the iconic Kenneth Branagh reprise his role as the great screen detective Hercule Poirot.

Hollywood rebooted the detective series in 2017 with Murder on the Orient Express. The last time Poirot had graced the silver screen was in the 1970s, although those films are considered absolute classics today.

The previous film in this series proved popular with critics and audiences, and you’d be silly to bet against Death on the Nile doing the same.

Top Gun Maverick

Top Gun Maverick is the long-awaited sequel to the 1986 classic of American machismo.

Explosions. Strong jawed fighter pilots. Man vs machine. Man in a machine. EXPLOSIONS. You know the deal.

This, of course, sees Tom Cruise retain his role from 34 years ago as fighter ace Maverick of the US Air Force.

However, instead of going up against human pilots – this time, Maverick will be facing the drones and AI systems of modern 2020s warfare. How will he survive? Because you know he will, but it’ll still be exciting to watch anyway.

Uncharted

Woah – a video game movie that might not be that bad! Certainly, it has the A-list cast to back up the popularity of the PlayStation exclusive game series it’s based on.

Starring the mercurial Tom Holland as less chauvinistic and rugged Indiana Jones-inspired adventurer Nathan Drake, the film will also see Mark Wahlberg, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas grace the screen.

With all that screen talent on board, and a solid background premise to draw on, Uncharted couldn’t possibly be a bad bet to succeed in 2022 – could it?
